Melanie La Tragna

I started ballet aged 3 at the King Slocombe School of Dance in Cambridge before moving to North Devon to continue training at the Portland Dance Academy.

I took part in the Adeline Genee Awards at Sadlers Wells and was studying for Solo Seal exam when I accepted a place at the Royal Ballet School.

I started dance classes when I was 5 and trained with the United Teachers of Dance. I achieved my Associate Dance Teacher Qualification when I was 18.

I have taught dance ever since, including evening adult classes with Devon County Council and Children’s dance lessons with Torridge District Council.

My name is Imy and I have been dancing since I was 3 years old with Melanie taking all my dance grades including advanced ballet getting a distinction as well as taking my teaching exams.

Dance has become my passion that I want to now share.

I have worked in the Dance and fitness sector for over 8 years and have a particular passion for teaching  Contemporary dance and sharing this evolving art form.

During my Degree  I discovered my love for Release technique and Choreography creative practice. This expressive format helps students to enhance theirs choreographic skills and help them to enjoy and explore working with small or large groups with lifts/contact.

I have been with Melanie and LDA for 17 years and teaching at LDA for 3 years. I gained all my dance qualifications with Melanie including Distinction in Advanced ballet. I love teaching at LDA and have a passion for choreography especially. When I was 18 I achieved my Associate teaching qualification with Melanie.

I have been dancing with Melanie for 14 years, completing my exams in Ballet, Musical Theatre ,Tap and Modern before successfully qualifying as an Associate teacher.

I absolutely love teaching children of all ages and watching as their ability and confidence grows through the years. I hope that my love of dance shines through to the students at LDA and inspires them to continue performing.

The reason that I have been dancing for 14 years is because it is so enjoyable, and has become a passion of mine.

My name is Alicia and I’m fifteen years old. I have been dancing with Melanie since I was five and study Ballet, Tap, Modern, Street, Drama, Contemporary, Cheer and Jazz.
